After a break of one month, the racing continued with a intensive program. It started with the fourth race weekend of the World Series by Renault, on the famous Formula 1 Track in Silverstone, England, on the 05./06. September 2015.
The two free practice sessions were held as usual on Friday. The weather was cool and dry. I felt well in my car and was in both free practice sessions on P2.
Qualifying for race 1 + 2
There were 3 races on the program in Silverstone. The fastest lap in the Quali on Saturday determined the starting position for race 1 and the second fastest lap for race 2. I did well and drove good lap times. Unfortunately I missed the fastest time in my group by 0.1 seconds and became second. Herewith I started race 1 and race two on place 3.
The first race was held on early Saturday afternoon. It was still cold, but dry weather. I had a good start and held my 3. Position. After the start there was a big crash and the race had to be suspended. The fight for the places 3, 4 and 5 was hard after the safety car restart. Unfortunately I couldn’t defend my position and finished the race on P4.
At 17:30 the starting grid was opened. I had a start like a „rocket“ and was able to overtake in turn 1 around the outside and take the lead. I drove a controlled race and increased the lead lap by lap. With this I secured my first Eurocup victory of the season.
Qualifying for race 3
With similar conditions like the days before, the Qualifying was held on Sunday morning for race 3. This time my lap was perfect, and I was fastest in my group. Like expected, the second group was quicker, so I had the second starting position.
This race started at 14:05. I had a good start, but also the leader. He managed to get a little gap to me and I could never really attack him. But also I could make a little gap to the third and finished the race on P2.
This weekend was really successful for me. I took a lot of points in the championship standings and moved up to P2. I am happy and looking forward for the next race at the Nürburgring.
